Dawkins, Dennett, Sweeny at TED

Recent must-see talks given by Richard Dawkins, Daniel Dennett, and Julia Sweeny at the 2006 TED Conference.

Dawkins quoting J.B.S. Haldane: “My own suspicion is that the universe is not only queerer than we suppose, but queerer than we can suppose.”

“I know many religions are so anxious about preserving the purity of their faith among their children that they are intent on keeping their children ignorant of other faiths. I don’t think that’s defensible.”

Sweeny performs a segment from her hit one-woman play, Letting Go of God.

Good stuff. Dawkins is actually reading (more or less) from the last chapter of The God Delusion (from p 364 on). He makes some great points about evolving a concept of reality based only on the “necessary software.”
