Ron Weinland appears to be cut from the same cloth as the same false prophet I grew up under: Herbert W. Armstrong. I’m laying 99.99% odds that he’s just as false.
Here are the pivotal claims given on the last page of his freely-downloadable book, 2008 — God’s Final Witness:
By the fall of 2008, the United States will have collapsed as a world power, or it will have begun its collapse and no longer exist as an independent nation within six months after that time. There is a marginal, six-month window of time that God has not yet revealed concerning this specific moment of time. This will be revealed some time soon after the distribution of this book begins.
As the spokesman of God’s two end-time witnesses and as His end-time prophet, I have fulfilled my responsibility in placing the contents of this book before you. What you do with it is up to you. Indeed, only a very short time remains before it will be evident that I am who I say or that I am not. In the past 1900 years, have you ever read or heard of a publication from any religious leader who has made such claims, laying out such a precise pattern for the near future with such precise timelines? You have not! This is the evidence (witness, testimony) of the true God of Abraham!
And here is an excerpt from a radio interview Weinland gave on August 12, 2007.
Ronald Weinland: We have about six months to a year before we come to a point where currencies have no value; they’re going to crash. We’re also going to come to a point in time here where there’s going to be a great deal of destruction, especially in the United States. As soon as that’s taken place, there will be the beginning of a war. Europe is going to step in and try to take control of matters. They don’t want the United States especially, to do some of the things they’re doing right now in Iraq and Afghanistan and so forth. … After Europe starts doing what they do, a year later China and Russia combine together in Asia to battle Europe. And that is an escalation of World War III. World War III begins when Europe begins to do what they’re going to do. After that, a year later, sometime Russia will step in, and it’s a great nuclear war. …
Interviewer: So the world isn’t going to end next year, that’s just the beginning of the end phase?
Ronald Weinland: Exactly. It lasts for 3 1/2 years.
Interviewer: … So by 2012 it will all be over.

Is it just a coincidence that I’m here in your blog reading day after day at a time the most of you are asleep? The arguments regarding God Vs Atheism can go on and on and on. I believe that if one is interested in discovering God we need to look at the one God sent to personally represent Him. Jesus is the perfect representation (mirror image ) of God. So we need to look for 100% proof of Him. I have recently read a number of books that have helped me come to a conclusion. The first is a book called The Case for Christ by Lee Strobel, The second a set of three volumes called Answering Jewish Objections to Jesus by Michael L. Brown. The third I read because my sister is a Jehovah’s Wittness so in finding info on them I was able to get a better understanding of my own beliefs it is called Reasoning from the scriptures with jehovah’s Wittnesses. I know we all have a right to believe or disbelieve in God and salvation through Jesus the thing is that people who believe in and have found a love for God (through Jesus) have to talk about him and share him even when like myself we are not intellectuals like some of you guy’s. I am sure there a many out there who could make mince meat out of me intellectually in fact I have even been belted physically for believing in Jesus. But I am just concerned for the fate of my fellow man I have no choice I have to share Jesus. If I am told to get lost or am rejected what ever then people have made their choice but as Christians we have to share our faith. As for Mr Ron Weinland… Well I find his ideas hard to swollow simply because he claims we are to become Elohim (God like) Um from recollection wasn’t that the very claim that got Lucifer into trouble declaring he will be like God? There is none like him there can be none like him this statement tells me to be warned.
Can a plant be spiritual?
It has been 11 hours so I will answer. Can a plant be spiritual? No. Therefore life does not equal spirit or soul.
If it were true that we all evolved from some single cell, then WHEN did the spirit and soul evolve? What are they ‘made up of’?
In order to BE spiritual, one must HAVE a spirit. There is no physical evidence (DNA, matter, elements etc.) AT ALL proving that humans have a spirit,….yet Robert BELIEVES he is spiritual. How can this even BE if we ‘evolved’? There is no physical evidence to prove the existance of spirits or souls. Yet….Robert is spiritual. Why? Why does he believe there is a spirit? There is absolutely NO PHYSICAL EVIDENCE that spirits exist. Show me some dna, some elements, some ‘link’ to this evolution from plant to animal to human that proves the existance of a spirit or soul. You can’t. YET, despite this LACK OF EVIDENCE, Robert BELIEVES he is spiritual.
Indeed Robert is CORRECT, he is spiritual and he does have a spirit as well as a soul. Yet, there is no physical evidence whatsoever showing that spirits or souls ‘evolved’ into being. AMAZING. Robert has more faith than he’s even aware of.

If something big really happen this year, Mr Weinland is so a false prophet. Not because he was wrong but because he is so right in timing ! He should be a fasle prophet because he knew what he said by his position of CIA secret agent ! Sorry but i heard some radio interview of him and he explained he can’t see antichrist, he says the antichrist is somewere in Iran… And all the Bush familly and Boheimien Groove secrets societies… What it is ??? If not antichrist poeple keeping by the way all the secrets about our past connections with some poeple from other stars… Christ is symbolizing the power of our own consciensness if free… They keep it secret to controle us !!!!

I believe I am a deeply spirtual person. I have a strong faith in God. but do not attend church at this time. I have only read bits and pieces of the bible. I thought my husband and I were on the same page about our faith. He revealed to me today that he has been reserching Ron Weinland for 8 weeks ……….and it convinced about everything that is going to happen in the Spring of 2008….He seems almost brainwashed. This is very bothersome to me……..please give me more insight. I just do not believe this Ron Weinland, not that I do not think this world is in bad shape. Please help……..i am very troubled by this. You haven’t long to wait for your husband to be proven wrong. Unless he’s selling everything in the house and sending all the money to Weinland, I suggest you tough it out and he should come to his senses soon.

Information that has been given in Ronald Weinland’s book can be very disturbing and it is understandable how this could be construed as brainwashing.
Others have done the same in the past.
By the same token, you can get brainwashed into the News regarding the issues that are facing our world day by day. I do not believe most people have a clear idea as to what is taking place around our globe either out of ignorance or because they simply would rather not hear what is going on.
We do not have the power to change Revelation from happening so if all your husband is doing is trying to become a better person (biblically) in light of this information then there is nothing wrong with that.
If he is selling everything in preparation for the last days and wanting to run to hide in the mountains then there is an issue!
Here is my advice:
Listen to him and take interest in what he has read so that you can discuss the topics intelligently. For those of us who believe in the Bible this book should serve as a wake up call at the very least.
If he has a desire to change inwardly encourage it! There’s nothing wrong with the desire to improve. If he is planning to take radical actions then simply mention that Revelation is a warning for self improvement in the eyes of God and is not mentioned for mankind decipher how to battle or avoid it. It cannot be avoided!
Ronald’s books and follow up interviews clearly demonstrate that Mr. Weinland is stating the exact same thing to the world as well. To this extent I do not believe that Weinland is a “bad man”. I would be worried if he were stating that God told him for us to give him all our money.
If you haven’t yet (and I am assuming you haven’t) read the book yourself. In this manner you will be able to converse with your husband and perhaps have a better idea of what he is thinking.
The Bible is my word and law. I have read both books and will probably re-read them again. I thought that they were a good read. They have helped me take a better evaluation of who I am!
My final piece of advice is this: When in doubt err on the side of the Bible or dismiss it as truth. I say this simply because I feel that many people who believe what Ronald Weinland is saying will use it as a basis of their faith and their faith will be destroyed if he turns out to be a false prophet (most assuredly — his church).
My heart and prayers will be with both you and your husband Annie. I wouldn’t get too worried but rather take this as an opportunity to strengthen your bond together. That is the true stuff of life and pleasing in the eyes of God.

I never cease to be amazed at all the people in our world who seem to be the self-appointed gatekeepers on who is and who isn’t a false prophet out there in the religious world these days.
You would do well and be wise unto wisdom if you seek to serve the soon-coming Messiah–The Annointed One; rather that spewing out your prognosticatons on who is and who isn’t the annointed prophet(s) at the close of this present age. And let’s not forget about the Two Witnesses.
Too much time is being wasted on who is and who isn’t this or that. Consider sharing the true gospel of the “Annointed One” rather than espousing personal opinions on who is a false prophet–and let time real to us who is and who isn’t. But then there are those who have nothing more to do with their time, I suppose.

If you read the original post carefully, you’ll see that Weinland is predicting that serious bad things will happen through most of 2008. For example, he gave a radio interview last August where he said:
Remember, this is “six months to a year” from when he gave that interview. Which is at latest, August 2008, and probably earlier if it’s anywhere closer to the “six months” time frame. Also, Weinland explicitly ends that interview by telling the interviewer to “just call him “in April next year [2008]“, presumably to tell Weinland he was right.
I’m sure Weinland’s writings contain other details about this early 2008 time frame, but I’m not going to trouble myself to look them up.
hello everyone, i looked into weinland back in november, i cant remember how it happened but i think it was when i was looking at 2012, ive never believed in all that before but for some reason i do now. im 29 and have two beautiful kids , but all this shit has hit me hard, i mean i drink now nearly everyday just to take my mind off it and i know alcohol isnt the way of course i do. my job is suffering as is my family and friends. i think what made it more convincing is that i looked into false flag events u know like 9/11, 7/7 etc, and the fact that bush seems to want war with iran so he can stay in power even if it means to stage another terrorist attack to do so. i hope like everyone it doesnt happen , if april comes and goes as normal and nothing happens i will feel on top of the world. sorry i may sound like a sad git i never used to be this weak, ive got everything i need around me which is alot more than most people in this world i know but ive brought this on my self, and like everyone keeps telling me only i can sort myself out, i just wish i never looked into this stuff.

I’m not going to get into arguments about conspiracy theories, but I advise you to remember the old saying, “Never attribute to malice what can be adequately explained by stupidity.” It is my considered opinion that Bush is stupid, not malicious; and we shall soon be rid of him. I will not attempt to add more than what Robert has said other than to simply examine the flip side of the coin.
If everything happens as Mr. Weinland has predicted then we are afforded an incredible opportunity to get ourselves right in God’s eyes and much better prepared for what will take place.
If you believe in Revelation you will know that it is bound to be the event of mankind’s history and though it is set to have tribulation the larger and latter events will be well worth it.
I have been where you are and am still there at times. Sometimes I feel like I don’t want to press on in which case I turn to others around me and do it for them. Look to your beautiful children and do it for them. You will soon notice the desire to do it for yourself.

With respect to Weinland and fulfillment or non fulfillment of his prophecies.
I have neither credited nor discredited this guy however I do have the gut feeling that he will come clean if he is false. I do not believe you will see excuses or attempts to prolong his prophetic views and most assuredly believe that the WCG-PKG would suffer tremendously as a result.
Like his predictions, however, we’ll just have to see!

you are from Europe too and not far away from where I’m living, perhaps much nearer than the most of us. You talked about things most people believe. But Some of these things are poor opinions but not facts.

Although I AM quite sure that Roland Weinland’s prophecies wouldn’t fulfil exactly as he told us, I think most of his adepts would follow him as well as now.
Jesus said that he will come SOON but not at the moment we are expecting him. I prefer to read the bible for better understanding the things coming soon.

Thank you both for the blessings and words of encouragement. I try to help as much as I can within the limits of wisdom I have attained. The fact that I have not always been a Christian helps me in many ways to look at and respect differing opinions.
We have undoubtedly read much in the recent past that can generally cause one to consider possibilities. Most notably probably has to do with 9/11. It is very easy to get consumed in all of the supporting material and just as easy for people to get consumed into the readings of Ronald Weinland.
As a believer and a Christian the only thing that I can give credit to is Revelation. Not because I can prove it but because it is in the Bible and my Faith tells me that it is true.
We all have opinions and we all have the ability to choose to ignore or pay attention to what goes on around us. People have become discouraged over the information contained in this book and others have been intrigued and perhaps even encouraged.
If anyone follows the world news for even one week they can become easily discouraged. We now have multitudes of churches that teach from the same book but perhaps slightly different perceptions. Isn’t it interesting that the focus in churches have little teachings regarding Revelation. Some say it is because of its difficulty to read. Perhaps because it deals with matters that we might not want to hear.
The fact that Weinland put this book out and placed himself out there to hang for it tells me logically that he believes it. He may be delusional and wrong but I feel strongly that he believes it. I can respect that and use the content given to understand his positioning. Besides (and I have said this before) I thought that it was actually a good read (and for free, what a bonus).
As a Christian I use the Bible to be my guide and admittedly have parts that are difficult to swallow but the meaning of Faith is to believe in something in which you have no proof!
Revelation gives clear warning about adding to the Bible and the plagues as well as taking away from it. In my opinion Weinland has done neither and placed together a compelling definition of the signs of Revelation. The fact that he puts the timing in the hear and now helps raise an eyebrow as well.
I have no position at this point in considering him to be a False Prophet nor could I say that he is the “real deal”.
I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt at this point and keep aware of what he purports and if he’s wrong, he’s wrong (no harm done). If he happens to be right I will be happy that I had the awareness to understand it.

I know most of the history is a big lie. In fact, poeple from Babylonia or Summerian was from an other cycle of life…
As our 4 seasons but in a bigger scale there is cycle, something with a beginning and a end. Then it start again. So to give you an exemple, think about the fact that antique Egypt poeple had electricity… And WE discover it only about one century ago… very strange, but normal if we anderstand the way life and earth are affected by cycles… Small ones in bigger ones and so on…
2012, all the prophecies, scientist facts,… all of this begin to underline the end of a very very big Cycle of 26.000 years…
UFO’s are a fact everywhere in the world and those signs are going to be a more and more overwellming subject… Don’t you think that fit very well with the end of a big cycle of WAY of LIFE…?

You spoke about faith and you said a true thing as faith is to beleive in something without proof. My faith is full since i had a very strange experience. I am not going to explain it here because it should be to long but i can tell you this experience is so powerfull (in goog) that i cry sometime when it manifesting… This have an intimate relation with the 13 number and the symbol of it…
Remember… The srtucture of the Mayan Calendar is actually fitting with two key number… the 20 and the 13… Those calendar are supposed to finish on 2012… then it’s 2013, 20+13 = 33 the Christ age when crucified… There are no coincidence and my experience is so powerfull to me that i know something BIG is going to take place here on earth.

Suggestion: Take a positive approach to the worst possible outcome. You have an opportunity to make every moment count with your family. Let your wife know how incredible she is in your eyes and share more of your life with your kids. They would love to hear stories about your childhood.

I think false prophets do cause harm, though maybe not to you. People live in fear, and put their lives on hold. Sometimes they damage familial relationships. Sometimes they damage their economic situation. Sometimes they physically harm themselves or others. It varies from prophet to prophet of course, but the patterns are generally the same. If “getting right with god” is something that is important to Christians, then they should not need some false prophet of doom to come along for them to do it.
As this posting has garnered almost 250 comments and is now rather unwieldy, and as we still have some time to go before we know for certain whether Weinland is as false as I strongly suspect him to be, I am closing comments on this thread and letting the discussion continue in a new thread here.
