Mbaggins,

Well, I guess we'll have to wait until 2011 when Europe tosses billions of (wasted?) dollars into Gaia, where we'll be able to accurately measure parallax tens of thousands of light years.

I suppose then creationists will alter Genesis to fit "those" facts in the same way they did geocentricism, flat-earth theology, etc.

A more accurate statement would be "creationists have a preconceived conclusion that must be upheld at all costs, where actual scientists do not." This is self-evident, in that there are Christian astronomers, biologists, etc. who accept the overwhelming evidence in favor of an old earth, distant stars, evolution, or what have you.

A Christian (scientist or otherwise) cannot look at the evidence objectively. However, I personally know and am friends with dozens of secular scientists who would LOVE (absolutely love) to find evidence for a young earth, or that there were bunny fossils in the Cambrian explosion. Hell, they'd be world famous.

Alas, it's not going to happen.

Evolutionary biologists have evidence to support Darwin's original theory. A staggering amount of evidence -- from the genome to the fossil record. Evidence that Darwin would have dreamed to have at his disposal.

Science has many failures -- but science itself and the scientific method is a resounding success. It has infinitely more stability than theology -- something in which I have quite a bit of experience. The fact you're reading my words seconds after I hit "send", or that 95% of the folks who have their chest cracked open during surgery survive is a testament to this 'hit and miss' field of human development.

Not bad for knowing "very little", eh?

If you care to address the myriad of biblical errors, lies, contradictions, logical fallacy, etc., feel free. I'm not an astronomer, but I'm more than happy to address theological problems.

Your ad hominem attacks on CDK is not only uncalled for, but tactics we see all-too frequently among the ID crowd. If you want to stand out, stick to the facts. Be different. ; )

sorry made a mistake on my calculations it's more like 93,000,000,000 93 billion but a light year is 6 trillion miles.

I watched the video and noticed some fallacies. He claims paralax works to 3000 light years. I think 1000 au is more like it. thats 93, 000,000 not even a light years. not from me from wiki pedia___ The cosmic distance ladder is the succession of methods by which astronomers determine the distances to celestial objects. A real direct distance measurement to an astronomical object is only possible for those objects that are "close enough" (within about a thousand parsecs) to earth. The techniques for determining distances to more distant objects are all based on various measured correlations between methods that work at close distances with methods that work at larger distances. The ladder analogy arises because no one technique can measure distances at all ranges encountered in astronomy. Instead, one method can be used to measure nearby distances, a second can be used to measure nearby to intermediate distances, and so on. Each rung of the ladder provides information that can be used to determine the distances at the next higher rung.

He posits that we 'guess at a lot of stuff about our cosmological view" but so does the astonomer and evolutionist. The astonomer quesses at the absolute brightness of a star, they use The cosmological constant like all constants are just fudge numbers to make things come out the way they want them to. They think that in only 150 years science can be certain about most everything when the truth is that we can be certain about very little. Science has had many sucesses but also many failures. He claims only creationists have emotional attachments to their "facts" Evolutionists are all mind and unswayed by emotion. Give me a break. His peace reeks with emotions and derision. He is no Spock. He is more like Dr. Frankenstein in his scientific demeanor. He thinks science is cool collected and unable to be swayed by apriori reasoning. He is deluded. Christians and Atheists are alike swimming in emotions and both can easily be deicieved by them. That's why we rely on the bible as anchor in a sea of human emotion. We have confidence in it's foundational concepts. Evolutionists have confidence in Darwin's foundational concepts. We all believe the world view we want to believe, are compelled to believe, are comfortable believing. It takes determined effort for either side to seek the truth in an unbiased way. Evolutionists fail as often as fundamentalists.
