God Hates Blogs

If you read any of the other blogs that track the WCG and its offshoots, you’ve probably already seen this jaw-dropper. But in case you haven’t…

He started it!

• The Restored Church of God: Blogs – and God’s Youth

They (and many others) finished it!

• XCG: Shutting Up the Sheep
• Ambassador Watch: Blather from Pack
• The Zero Boss: Teenagers: You’re Going to Hell, One Blog Post at a Time
• Wonkette: God Hates Blogs

  1. Wow, I haven’t paid any attention to the WCG or it’s splinter groups since I left the church in ’96 (except for the vague knowledge that my dad is in UCG and keeps inviting me to church for the holy days). Anyway, I had never ever heard of RCG until reading this article. The only thing I can say is that some things never change.

Armstrongism is akin to religious fascism, requiring subjects to be loyal to the church above all other concerns. Why should we be surprised that this techno version of the old WCG would be spouting drivel about the evils of the blogosphere using a church blog. Hypocrisy is the one thing that the church has always done really, really well–that and destroy families and self-esteem.

Mr. Deene is right about one thing in his article; blogs give people a voice who wouldn’t normally have one. Too bad for him and Newt Gingrinch. Thank goodness for the rest of us and that pesky freedom of speech.
