A new blog has appeared that might be of interest.

Main page :- http://foresight-of-hindsight.blogspot.com/

First six pages :-
Have They Been Recruited by a Cult?
Mind Control by Cults
Survivors of Destructive Cults
"The Firmament" Video
"End of the World" in the Year 2012 ??
Space Exploration by NASA

The article called Have They Been Recruited by a Cult? appears to have some excellent advice from the Spotlight Ministries.
For example :-
Quote
"Having the Right Attitude is Vital
"It cannot be stressed enough that the right attitude when approaching the person in the cult is vital. Saying things like: "You are in a cult" or "You have been brainwashed" only drives the person further into the group. Those in cults are still people, people who will see comments such as the above as personal attacks upon them. It may also be tempting to lose your temper out of the frustration you are experiencing. But it is only natural that negative comments and loss of temper will produce a defensive attitude in the cult member. It must be remembered that the person caught up in the cult has been taught to view you as a spiritual enemy. Acting in a careless way will only reinforce what they have been taught. It is far better to approach the individual with a caring and accepting attitude.

Gave ya a link from my blog, good luck.

As far as the narrowness issue, there are different templates on blogspot.  Some of them allow the editorial text column to widen for those with wider screens.  You can choose a new template for your blog pretty easily, unless you had to modify the template for some reason.

PH, it's interesting that you say that they now even allow inter-racial marriages.  I was thinking about his yesterday and wondered what COG's stance on that was.  I was thinking about how intolerant RW is, and that brought to mind the inter-racial marriage question.

Back in the day, it was very bad form to inter-marry or, as it was known in the church "marry outside of your tribe".

Find your tribe!

Is your tribe here?

Must be here, if your tribe isn't listed with the others.

Found your tribe yet?

I remember colouring a similar picture to this in my first YES lessons class, only it was in the shape of a rainbow. Roll Eyes There was also a grid-form of this table of nations, substantially unchanged, in the middle of Mystery of the Ages, released in the early '80s.

Now, I was born and raised in the "liberal" era, so at least we were allowed to socialize with others "not of our tribe". Apparently back in the day, even that was frowned on.

The "table of nations" BTW was brought into the church courtesy of Herman Hoeh, who did the most thought-reform damage of any of the evangelists in the church, with his Compendium of World History. It was really a "Compendium of Church Made-up History", but we members weren't aware of that. Sad

That's a sticking point the church apparently glossed over back in the day.

Sorry to mention this again, but I am still rather worried about those students at the DeVry Institute in Brooklyn.
It appears that they have just finished reading "Apocalypse 2012" -- no kidding!
One student even says she prefers "God's Final Witness"  Evil

I have finally finished this book, "apocalypse 2012".I am not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing, considering that i couldn't tell you what the book was about. It confused the hell out of me. It was so uninteresting,it was like going in and simultaneously coming out. So much for the books getting better, i much rather God's final witness.Sad,Sad,Sad. All i remember is X-class, sunspots, the SOURCE meetings, and 2005 being the most tumultuous year for the sun, ask me why, and i couldn't tell you. At least today were going to watch an interesting movie, chosen by my fellow classmates. Just to think, two more weeks and we don't have to worry about the end of the world again. Countdown to session B.

Obviously all this end-of-the-world talk is beginning to depress her...
Some time ago I thought about writing to the DeVry Institute to advise them about our concerns.
(What are the chances that those books, and the film they saw ("Countdown to Armageddon") aren't in the syllabus for the paper?)
Does anybody else think that writing to the Institute would be a good idea?
Perhaps visitors to this forum from New York can confirm that the material is highly unusual for a paper called Humanities 422...

The thought had occurred to me to write to DeVry as well, but I haven't had time to act on it, as of yet. It's good news that Kinsley is at least not recruiting for PKG alone, unless the elders are OK with Mayan/2012 "prophecies" because that dovetails with the 2nd timeline (similar to how Christian Identity was viewed by WCG members, back in the day).

I, too, fail to see how all the apocalyptic doom-and-gloom fits in with an English class; or even a "Humanities" class.

Any ideas on drafting a letter? You would want links to articles that would have the maximum impact; the IRS documents over at WT, Weinland's predictions to date (including the first failed timeline) on the WW, Mike's Google pages False Prophet summary page.....Of course, you will have to include all the student blogs, if you are writing to school.

Not sure if you want to start at the top and write the dean (if they even have one) or the principal, or whoever is "top official" there, or if it would make more of an impact to contact the New York State Board of Education instead. I'm not sure if DeVry would even fall under the governmental ministry of ed, as they appear to be a private post-secondary institute........

Regardless, don't the parents of these kids know what they're being force-fed under the guise of a "Humanities" course?!?!?!?!?! Sad

In case anyone is still interested in the blogs of possible recruits :-

This one might have been a close call ! :-

   -----------------------------------------------------
   "PREPARING FOR THE WORST
From now until the latter part of 2008, many prophecies are going to begin to be fulfilled, especially the Seven Thunders of the Book of Revelation, which the apostle John saw but      was restricted from recording. Those thunders are revealed in this book, as well as detailed accounts of the final three and one-half years of man's self-rule on earth, which are   recorded in the account of the Seventh Seal of Revelation.
...etc...
...etc...
As these events unfold, the world will increasingly become aware of the authenticity of the words in this book and realize that Ronald Weinland has been sent by God as His end-time prophet.
This book is primarily directed to the people of the three major religions of the world (Islam, Judaism and Christianity), whose roots are in the God of Abraham. Ronald Weinland has been sent to all three."

It all sounds bad, but reading that last sentence, I'm forced to wonder...does that mean that, say, Buddhists or Hindus or even Satanists will be spared the end times war?
In any event, you can check out the rest here. It's free, for obvious reasons.
   --------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi, you have probably already guessed that the writer (Ronald Weinland) is a false prophet. He has already had one failed timeline. If you get recruited by his church/cult you will have to pay tithes - even before they will agree to baptize you! There is a history of the pastor here :-
http://ronaldweinland.googlepages.com/falseprophetronaldweinland
Also, the cult will encourage you to stop seeing your family and friends, or anybody else who doesn't agree with their views.
Anyway, have a good day in Maine!

But, as you can see 'the looney' just makes her roll her eyes.  Roll Eyes  Roll Eyes

Yes, you're right -- it was a case of me typing before thinking...
She does seem to be smart.
I sometimes hope that the blog readers are just as smart as her, and I get a bit nervous when I see a link to the PKG website.

PS. I have removed the PKG link from my blog page that lists most of the splinters, even though there are warnings about being recruited by them.
I guess it could have been seen as being some sort of double-standard. :-)
